Developing a Coordinated Response to Phragmites Management

In Ontario, Invasive Phragmites has negative impacts on the environment, economy and society. Are you interested in learning what goes into creating a coordinated response to Phragmites management? Then this is the training for you! This two-day VIRTUAL event will provide you with key information that you can use to inform your own Phragmites management plan. We will feature experts in the field of Phragmites management that will provide insight into key components of a successful Phragmites management plan.

Upon successful completion of this course and final quiz, you will receive a certificate of completion. In this training you will learn the following:

  • The need for collaboration
  • Establishing a working group
  • Indigenous engagement
  • Funding
  • Landowner participation
  • Prioritize where to start
  • Permits and authorizations
  • Implementation
  • Monitoring and maintaining annual progress
  • Timeline

The two-day training will happen VIRTUALLY on:

  • March 6th, 2024 – March 7th, 2024

*In order to receive the certificate of completion, you must attend both sessions*

The training is FREE to attend and is hosted by the Ontario Invasive Plant Council with support from the Green Shovels Collaborative.
